Rules & Guidelines

TEAMS- A “team” can be an individual or a group of people, open to all ages and abilities.

You do not have to live in Northampton to participate, but team leaders will have to sign up for membership at NCTV, membership fee is optional.

SCENES-  Teams can claim their scene beginning on June 6th at 7pm. Sign-ups are open until all the scenes are picked. We’ll send you an email within 24 hours with the scene download, script and other logistics. Please stick to the total running time of the scene you are assigned. Going over or under a few seconds is fine, but keep in mind your scene is a small part of a long movie. Make sure the beginning and end of your scene matches up closely to the original so it will transition nicely with the other scenes.

BE ORIGINAL- We ask that you follow the script in terms of dialogue and action, but you may otherwise be creative. You can shoot live action, use puppets, stop-motion, animation, whatever you think will be entertaining and fun. Don’t have access to a Ferrari? Try a toy car. Check out some of the past Crowdsourced Cinema movies to get ideas.

No copyrighted images, logos, or music whatsoever. This includes video and audio clips from the original movie.  Do not add music to your scene, we will do this in editing.  You may add non-copyrighted sound effects.

If you have a scene where music is focal (e.g. Ferris lip-syncing in the parade) you will be partnered with a local musician to write an original song.

TECH SPECS – We’d prefer everyone to shoot Full HD 1920×1080 with a framerate of 24 frames per second.

Shoot, edit, and export in the highest quality possible. Most filetypes can be accepted. We prefer a Quicktime (.mov) or an H.264 (.mp4) file in 24 frames per second. If you need any guidance with camera or export settings, please get in touch.

DATES – Scenes will be due at the end of August.
